Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc. (USA). When you open a page, the hosting provider processes technically necessary data: your IP address, the date and time of the request, the requested address, the browser type and the referrer URL. This is required to deliver the pages and to keep the website running and secure.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and error-free operation of the website). The data is stored only as long as this purpose requires.

Because the provider is based in the USA, data may be transferred to a third country. The transfer relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR) or on standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 GDPR).

Name resolution (DNS)

I use the DNS service of Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) to resolve the domain name. The Cloudflare proxy is not active for this website: your page requests do not pass through Cloudflare. Cloudflare only processes DNS queries for this domain. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Storage in your browser

If you change the theme with the switch in the header, your browser stores your choice locally (Local Storage, key theme) so it is kept for your next visit. The setting is not sent to me or to third parties. No cookies are set. Access is permitted under § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG because it is necessary for the function you asked for.

Contact by email

If you email me, I process your sender address and the content of your message to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if the request concerns a contract or preparing one, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. I delete the data once the request is dealt with and no statutory retention duty applies.

Links to other websites

This website links to GitHub and LinkedIn. Data is only transferred to the respective provider once you click such a link. The providers’ own privacy policies apply to that processing.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). To exercise them, write to the email address above.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for me is the Unabhängiges Datenschutzzentrum Saarland, Fritz-Dobisch-Str. 12, 66111 Saarbrücken, Germany.
